New Yorkers woke up to a scene straight out of the movie "The Mist" on Wednesday because the city was covered by a snow squall. But everyone had one question on their minds; What's a snow squall anyways?

According to the National Weather Service, a snow squall is an intense short-lived burst of heavy snowfall that leads to a quick reduction in visibilities and is often accompanied by gusty winds.

Following the snow squall that moved through, Central Park picked up 0.4" of snow. ❄️
